The INCOSE Human Systems Integration (HSI) Workshop 2022 was held from Wednesday, November 16 to Friday, November 18, 2022, at the Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach in Torrance, California.
Building on the success of the digital HSI Workshop organized in 2020 with the INCOSE Israel Chapter and ESTIA Institute of Technology, the INCOSE Human Systems Integration Working Group hosted a more interactive and engaging workshop in 2022, featuring contributions and experiences from renowned speakers.
The event included three lectures on contemporary HSI topics such as situational awareness, human–machine teaming, organizational automation, levels of autonomy, and more.
In addition, participants attended presentations and discussions on the progress and content of the INCOSE HSI Primer (Volumes I, II, and III).
Collaboration between INCOSE and the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) was also highlighted, with representatives from both organizations discussing ongoing partnerships and joint activities.
Several laboratory initiatives were presented by research centers from around the world, showcasing practical advancements in HSI.
Other INCOSE working groups also participated to promote cross-disciplinary collaboration on Human Systems Integration within the broader field of systems engineering.
The HSI Workshop 2022 was organized as a hybrid event, combining in-person and virtual participation. Sessions were limited to 90 minutes to maintain a high level of engagement for all attendees.
Overall, the workshop successfully fostered active interaction, knowledge exchange, and community building among HSI practitioners and researchers.
